We're at Branson

We arrived at our destination in Branson Missouri, Compton Ridge Campground, on Thursday, May 1st. This was about 4 days earlier than we had initially planned, but there was a weather system that was going to affect us for over half of our driving if we left when we planned. By leaving early we got to Branson before the weather developed. We left Titusville Tuesday, April 29 at 2:30 PM and stopped overnight in the Wal-Mart parking lot in Tifton Georgia. The next day we drove northwest through Georgia, Alabama, northern Mississippi, around Memphis TN and stopped for the night at the Wal-Mart parking lot in Forest City, Arkansas. This was a 540 mile day, but the driving was easy except for getting through Birmingham. We took our time leaving Thursday morning, driving to Little Rock on I-40 and then north to Branson on US 65. We arrived at our RV site an Compton Ridge around 1:30 in the afternoon. Mileage from Titusville to Compton Ridge was 1115 miles. The rest of the afternoon, we setup our camp site which will be our home for the next 5 months.

Compton Ridge Campground is on top of a mountain ridge that runs from south to the west of Branson. The campground is located to the west of the main part of Branson in an area that has not yet been developed. There are a few motels and campgrounds, but for the most part the area is covered with trees. As you ride along highway 265 along the top of the ridge, you can see Table Rock Lake down to the south and Branson to the north. It is a very scenic and quiet area. Our RV site is at the lower end of a line of camp sites. The door side of the RV and the awning side faces the woods. Right now there are blooming dogwood trees. Sitting outside under the awning is very nice looking out into the woods and listening to all the birds flying around the area. We are located in the section of the campground that is mostly extended stay rentals. So there's not much traffic in our area and it's very quiet which we love. In our next blog posting in a day or so I will share with you the first few days of our Branson summer. Check out the photo album for pictures of our camp site.
